The voith Sulzer Escher Wyss Purgomat is considered the gray water clarification system of the future.

The Purgomat Clarifier serves for cleaning of back water of the stock preparation, e.g. filtrates of wires presses, extractors, washers, centrifuges and filters. Can also handle white water or a mixture of both.

The cleaned, cleard water is returned to the production process, the separated sedimantary & thickened flotating sludge collected for treatment.

This system is an advanced clarification system using combined settings and floatation techniques and can be used in a variety of ways including fiber recovery. Approximately 2 min 30 second retention time.
Designed for approximately 1160 GPM (264 cubic meter per hour).
22′ diameter x 25 ½” deep tank. With rotating spiral scoop, size 1000 Air Dissolving Tube rated for 260 GPM

The inlet, outlet, and sludge removal mechanisms are contained in a the central rotating section of this clarifier. Un-clarified water is passed through the Air Dissolving Tube and released through a rotary joint in the center of the tank, than passes through the distribution duct, which is moving forward at the same velocity as the incoming water. This creates “zero velocity”, which allows for the settling and flotation process. The scoop than skims the floated sludge and discharges it into the stationary center section, where it is subsequently discharged by gravity.

USED FIELDS & BOYD WEDGE THICKENER BELT PRESS (WET LAP) MODEL XLWT-80. FULLY OPERATIONAL, STILL INSTALLED AT SITE. CAN BE SEEN IN OPERATION. GENERAL FUNCTION & DESCRIPTION THE TWIN WIRE WEDGE THICKENER (WT ) IS, PRIMARILY, A DEWATERING UNIT WHICH PROVIDES CONTINUOUS DEWATERING OF PULP/SLURRY SOLIDS BY MEANS OF ENTRAINMENT BETWEEN TWO ENDLESS, POROUS SYNTHETIC BELTS (WIRES). THESE BELTS ARE SUPPORTED BY BOTH DEWATERING PLATES AND FREE TURNING ROLLERS THROUGHOUT THE UNIT.
THE BASIC OPERATING PRINCIPLE STATES THAT THE PULP/SLURRY SOLIDS BECOME MORE STABLE TO PRESSURE AS WATER IS REMOVED. THE WT ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY MEANS OF TWO SEPARATE, CONTINUOUS DEWATERING ZONES OR SECTIONS: WEDGE ZONE & S-SECTION NIP DRIVE, (1) WEDGE ZONE: WHERE SHEET FORMATION OCCURS AND DEWATERING GENERATED BY A FORCED REDUCTION OF VOLUME BETWEEN THE UPPER AND LOWER BELTS IN THE SHAPE OF AN EXTENDED WEDGE; (2) S-SECTION WITH NIP DRIVE ROLL: WHERE HIGHER PRESSURE IS APPLIED BY THE BELTS PASSING THROUGH A SERIES OF S-ROLLS AND FINAL PRESSURE IS APPLIED BY THE MAIN DRIVE ROLL NIP PRESS.
THE MAIN DRIVE ROLL NIP PRESS PERFORMS THE DUAL ROLL OF DRIVING THE BELTS WHI1E AT THE SAME TIME DELIVERING NIP PRESSURES TO THE SHEET AS HIGH AS 800 PLI THE UNITS ARE EQUIPPED WITH AUXILIARY SYSTEMS FOR UPPER AND LOWER BELT TENSIONING, UPPER AND LOWER BELT TRACKING, UPPER AND LOWER BELT WASHING, AND AUTOMATIC MACHINE SHUTDOWN. MAIN DRIVE NIP: THE MAIN DRIVE NIP IS THE FINAL STAGE OF DEWATERING ON THE PRESS.
THE MAIN DRIVE NIP IS CREATED BY CONVERGING THE DRI VE ROLLERS INTO A NIP POSITION IS ACTUATED BY THE UPPER DRIVE ROLL IS MOUNTED ON A LEVER WHICH AN AIR BAG. THE AMOUNT OF NIP PRESSURE IS CONTROLLED FROM THE MAIN PNEUMATIC CONTROL PANEL. BELT SHOWERING: THERE ARE TWO BELT CLEANING SHOWERS LOCATED ON THE MACHINE: ONE FOR THE UPPER BELT AND ONE FOR THE LOWER BELT.
BOTH SHOWERS ARE ENCLOSED IN 316L STAINLESS STEEL ENCLOSURES. THE SHOWER PIPES AND NOZZLES ARE ALSO CONSTRUCTED OF 316L STAINLESS STELL AND THE NOZZLE ARRANGEMENT IS ON THREE INCH (3″) CENTERS WITH A FAN TYPE NOZZLE. BELT TENSION UNITS: A MINIMUM OF 125 BELT TENSIONING IS INDEPENDENTLY CONTROLLED FOR BOTH UPPER AND LOWER BELTS. THE TENSION UNIT IS EXTENDED PNEUMATICALLY VIA AIR BELLOWS AND STAINLESS STEEL SHAFTING DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE TENSION ROLLER BEARING HOUSINGS.
AS THE BELT ELONGATES, SPACERS ARE PROVIDED TO MAINTAIN PROPER TENSION ON THE BELT BELT TRACKING: BELT TRACKING IS MAINTAINED BY AN AUTOMATIC PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, ONE FOR BOTH UPPER END AND LOWER BELTS.
THE WT IS CONSTRUCTED SUCH THAT ALL ROLLERS WITHIN THE PRESS ARE PARALLEL WITHIN FINE TOLERANCES TO INSURE PROPER BELT TRACKING. SINCE SHEET PROFILE, AS WELL AS BELT STYLES WILL VARY. THE ADVANTAGE OF THIS SYSTEM IS THAT BELT ALIGNMENT IS CONTINUOUSLY CONITORED AND CORRECTED FOR THE SMALLEST AMOUNT OF MISALIGNMENT.
THE SYSTEM OPERATES SMOOTHLY, QUIETLY AND AUTOMATICALLY TO ELIMINATE OPERATOR ATTENTION. EACH SYSTEM HAS AN ELECTRICAL FAIL SAFE SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM IS TIED ELECTRICALLY TO THE MAIN DRIVE TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN THE PRESS IF THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM SHOULD FAIL. DRIVE SYSTEM: THE DRIVE SYSTEM FOR THIS MACHINE IS PROVIDED TO GIVE AUTOMATIC CONTROL FOR. EASE OF OPERATION.
